Creamline loses to Chery Tiggo, ends 19-game winning streak

The Creamline Cool Smashers suffered a surprising defeat against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in straight sets, 25-18, 26-24, 25-23, during the 7th round of the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Saturday.

Eya Laure led the Crossovers with 14 points, while Jen Nierva contributed defensively with 20 excellent digs and 10 excellent receptions.

The loss marked Creamline's first defeat since July 30, 2023, and their first straight sets loss since May 26, seven years ago, ending a 19-game winning streak that lasted eight months.

Despite the setback, team captain Alyssa Valdez emphasized the importance of using this experience to regain energy and motivation for future games, acknowledging it as an eye-opener for the squad.

Creamline aims to bounce back from their rare defeat in their title-retention bid, with their next match against Capital1 Solar Spikers scheduled for Thursday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
