Cebu Pacific reports 51.6% YOY increase in MCIA seat capacity

On Monday, Cebu Pacific reported a 51.6% year-over-year increase in seat capacity for flights to and from Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) in January.

The airline saw a 34.7% rise in the number of its flights to and from Cebu last month, with over 717,000 seats offered.

Cebu Pacific carried more than 5.6 million passengers through MCIA in 12 months, representing nearly half of the airport's total passenger traffic for the year, which saw an overall 13% increase to 11.3 million passengers.

Xander Lao, president and chief commercial officer at Cebu Pacific, attributed the growth to strong demand for affordable air travel in Central Visayas.

The airline currently offers direct flights from 24 domestic destinations as well as international routes to cities such as Bangkok, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Osaka, Singapore, Incheon, and Narita.
