Party-list coalition denounces Romero’s removal as deputy speaker

The 54-strong party-list coalition strongly criticized Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano for removing Michael 'Mikee' Romero from his position as deputy speaker on October 2.

Romero's removal was seen as a move against Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco, who is allied with Romero and the PCFI.

The coalition argued that improper procedures were followed in Romero’s dismissal, stating they were marginalized as mere spectators.

Romero had been appointed deputy speaker at the start of the 18th Congress to ensure equitable representation for party-lists.

Cayetano's allies have told Velasco's bloc to step down from key House posts if they cannot cooperate with Cayetano.
