Butuan logs 26 new COVID cases, 1 death

Butuan City recorded 26 new COVID-19 cases and one death as of September 17, bringing the total infections in Butuan to 500 with 179 recoveries, 301 active cases, and 20 deaths.

Caraga region has a total of 902 cases, including 479 recoveries, 396 active cases, and 27 recorded deaths as of September 18.

The new infections in Butuan are all local transmissions with eight being new transmissions, five having close contacts with previously confirmed cases, twelve being healthcare workers, and one a front-liner. Eleven cases were asymptomatic while thirteen had mild symptoms and two severe symptoms.

On September 17, Caraga logged four more COVID-19 deaths and seventeen new infections, increasing the region's total to 876 cases with 479 recoveries and 26 deaths.

DOH-13 noted an increase in local transmissions within Butuan (64%) and Bislig City (42%), urging stricter health measures from local governments.
