Capital1 appoints Jorge de Brito as new coach, replacing Roger Gorayeb before PVL draft

Capital1 has appointed Alas Pilipinas head coach Jorge de Brito as its new mentor, replacing Roger Gorayeb just days before the PVL Rookie Draft on June 8.

This marks Capital1's first coaching change since its foundation in 2024 and comes at a critical time for the team’s future in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

Jorge de Brito, a Brazilian Olympic gold medalist with extensive experience as a national team coach, will lead the Solar Spikers back to the PVL after his resignation from Akari Chargers last year.

Roger Gorayeb, who has been Capital1's head coach since its inception, will continue to support the team in a consulting role following his brief coaching stint.

The draft is set for Sunday, June 8, with Capital1 expected to select Mhicaela 'Bella' Belen as their first-ever No. 1 overall pick.
