Philippine carriers cancel flights to Taiwan amid coronavirus threat

Local carriers Philippine Airlines (PAL), Cebu Pacific (CEB), and AirAsia Philippines canceled flights to and from Taiwan on Tuesday amid an expanded travel ban by the Philippine government to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus.

The Department of Health (DOH) and Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced that Taiwan is now included in the existing travel restrictions imposed on China, Hong Kong, and Macao.

Cebu Pacific canceled all its flights between Manila and Taipei indefinitely, affecting flights 5J 312, 5J 310, 5J 311, and 5J 313.

The travel ban bars Filipino nationals from traveling to Taiwan and restricts entry for foreign nationals except those with Permanent Resident Visas who have not been in the country within 14 days.
