Swan boats from Burnham Park to aid Cagayan Valley rescue

Swan boats from Burnham Park in Baguio City will be used as rescue vessels in flood-affected areas of Cagayan Valley following Typhoon Ulysses.

Proprietor Vivian Celso offered 4 pontoon boats and one larger swan boat to the Baguio City Police Office for search and rescue operations, which can carry up to 10 persons each.

The fiberglass hulls of these boats make them ideal for rescue missions compared to rubber boats due to their puncture resistance.

Cagayan was placed under a state of calamity on Saturday with nine deaths reported, including those from landslides, drowning, and electrocution.

More than 3,700 personnel have been deployed by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council for rescue efforts in Cagayan and Isabela.
