Bulacan releases water from Bustos Dam due to Pepito

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) of Bulacan has continued to release water from Bustos Dam due to heavy rains caused by Super Typhoon Pepito.

Retired Col. Manuel Lukban, head of the PDRRMC, stated that the preemptive water release began on Friday and is ongoing for a third consecutive day.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 was raised in several towns and cities within Bulacan, while other areas were placed under TCWS No. 1 or No. 2.

According to Lukban, Bulacan was expected to experience cloudy skies with occasional light to moderate rains from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Preemptive evacuations have been conducted for 729 individuals or 215 families in four coastal villages due to the potential impact of Pepito.

Over 500 people were evacuated from Binuangan and Salambao in Obando town, while more than 160 individuals were moved from Barangays Pamarawan and Atlag in Malolos city.
