PAGASA warns brewing storm brings heavy rains to Luzon, Visayas

A low pressure area (LPA) is expected to move through Luzon and parts of the Visayas this week, bringing heavy rains to areas already under varying levels of virus quarantines.

As of Thursday morning, the LPA was located 65 kilometers east northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte and may strengthen into a tropical depression within 24 hours.

The system is forecasted to move northwestward, affecting northern Quezon-Aurora by Thursday night or Friday, following a similar path as Typhoon Ambo which recently hit the country.

PAGASA warns of moderate to heavy rains over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, northern Palawan, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Western Visayas due to enhanced southwest winds.

On Wednesday, the LPA was spotted 75 kilometers east of Borongan, Eastern Samar with a potential to strengthen into a tropical depression within 48 hours, affecting Bicol and Eastern Visayas before crossing northern Luzon on Friday or Saturday.
