Petecio becomes 2-time Olympic boxing medalist

Filipina boxer Nesthy Petecio has become a two-time Olympic medalist after securing a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Petecio previously won a silver medal in Tokyo in 2020, joining an elite group of Filipino athletes who have won multiple medals.

Boxing remains the Philippines' most successful sport in the Olympics with ten medals over a century of participation, more than half of the country's current total of 18 medals.

This year, Petecio and Aira Villegas both claimed bronze medals, making boxing the only sport to produce two medalists at these Games.

Notably, Nesthy Petecio is also the first female boxer to earn an Olympic medal for the Philippines.
