BIR suspends audits during lockdown

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has suspended audits and investigations due to the lockdown caused by COVID-19.

The suspension will last until 60 days after the six-month state of emergency is lifted, as per Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 34-2020 issued on March 27.

This includes suspending the statute of limitations for assessing and collecting taxes, preventing the issuance and service of assessment notices and warrants during this period.
