Economic team slashes 2020 infra budget

The Philippine economic team has reduced the 2020 infrastructure budget from P800.6 billion in March to P725.1 billion, despite increasing total expenditures for public goods and services.

This reduction comes as DPWH's budget was slashed by P121.9 billion under the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, leaving its spending program at P458.9 billion from a previous P580.9 billion.

The cuts are part of efforts to fund COVID-19 relief measures and medical responses, despite economic managers' plans to boost infrastructure for post-pandemic recovery.
