Bicol raises blue alert over novel coronavirus threat

The Bicol Regional Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) raised the alert status to blue on February 6 due to the threat of novel coronavirus (nCoV).

Three patients with symptoms of nCoV were admitted in the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) in Albay, including a couple from the United States who stopped over in Shanghai.

The Blue alert status means all provincial DRRMCs are alerted to closely monitor their areas and implement preparedness measures.

A task force was formed on February 5 to address public health issues if nCoV enters Bicol.
