Benilde beats San Sebastian 96-94 in OT, 31 turnovers

De La Salle-College of St. Benilde narrowly defeated San Sebastian College-Recoletos in overtime with a score of 96-94 during the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament on Tuesday at the San Juan Arena, despite squandering a significant lead.

Tony Ynot contributed significantly with 23 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, while Jhomel Ancheta scored the game-winning two points in overtime after committing multiple turnovers earlier.

San Sebastian forced Benilde to commit 31 turnovers and tallied 20 steals to erase their 26-point deficit during the third and fourth quarters, nearly stealing a win that would have been secured by Raymart Escobido's missed buzzer-beater.

Benilde head coach Charles Tiu expressed profound disappointment over his team's performance, emphasizing it as an embarrassment due to the high number of turnovers and lack of defensive focus.

Despite Ancheta's winning shot, Coach Tiu highlighted that the victory was a result of chance rather than skill, underscoring the need for improvement in future games.
