DOH monitors 368 close contacts linked to UK variant case

The DOH is monitoring 368 close contacts in CAR and Mountain Province related to the UK coronavirus variant case.

Out of these contacts, 233 have been tested with PCR, resulting in 57 positives, 135 negatives, and 41 pending results.

Included among the positive cases are 12 individuals infected with the new variant and two who tested negative.

Contact tracing has expanded to cover Bontoc, Bauko, Sabangan, Sagada, and Baguio City after a man from Bontoc, who had recently returned from the UK, came into contact with relatives in other towns during family gatherings.

The BCDA conducted 3,500 initial PCR tests in Mountain Province to locate possible carriers of the virus.
