Dela Rosa optimistic SC will rule fairly on Duterte's ICC arrest warrant

Reelectionist Senator Ronald 'Bato' dela Rosa expressed optimism that the Supreme Court will issue a fair ruling on the petition challenging the legality of former president Rodrigo Duterte's arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Dela Rosa emphasized the need for an unbiased decision, free from political influence or pressure.

He and Duterte filed a petition for certiorari against Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and Justice Secretary Boying Remulla regarding actions taken by the Marcos administration, seeking a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to prevent Duterte's arrest but were denied by the Supreme Court.

Dela Rosa stated his intention to exhaust all legal avenues available to defend himself while also expressing readiness to face arrest if necessary.

On Tuesday, Duterte was arrested on drug war-related crimes against humanity charges and is currently held at an ICC-run detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands.

The senator reaffirmed his commitment to defending himself legally but stated his willingness to join Duterte should legal options be exhausted.
