PNP revises crystal meth seizure to 1.4 tons, P9.68B; now second-largest bust

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has clarified that approximately 1.4 tons or P9.68 billion worth of crystal methamphetamine was seized in Alitagtag town, Batangas province on April 15.

Initially, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) had estimated the seizure to be around P13 billion based on preliminary observations.

The detailed inventory conducted by the PNP over two days and confirmed by PDEA testing revised the official count to 1.4 tons of illegal drugs.

This drug bust is now officially recorded as the second-largest in Philippine history, following a P11 billion confiscation in Quezon province in March 2022.

Additionally, authorities seized 990 kilos of shabu worth P6.7 billion during an operation in Tondo, Manila, in October 2022.
