79 LSIs test positive for COVID-19 in BARMM

Seventy-nine out of 405 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

The LSIs, originally bound for Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi but rerouted to Cagayan de Oro City due to travel restrictions, were brought back to Maguindanao for a 14-day quarantine.

Seven of the 79 positive cases are minors aged 3 to 13 years old.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 patients in BARMM rose to 237 with eight new cases reported on Sunday, bringing the region's cumulative count to this figure.

Lanao del Sur and Marawi City lead BARMM areas with the most number of cases at 127, followed by Basilan and Lamitan city with 73.
