UP fan booing fails to deter Ateneo rookie Jared Bahay

The UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament kicked off on Saturday, September 7, with a highly anticipated match between UP Fighting Maroons and Ateneo Blue Eagles at the Araneta Coliseum.

Jared Bahay, an incoming rookie for Ateneo who was previously committed to UP, faced loud booing from UP fans during warm-ups but remained focused on his game plan provided by coach Tab Baldwin.

Despite the initial jeers, Bahay performed well in his debut game, contributing 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists in just 20 minutes of play.

Bahay downplayed the impact of the crowd's reaction, saying he was prepared for it and focused on realizing his dream of playing in the UAAP.

Ateneo coach Tab Baldwin acknowledged Bahay's leadership potential but noted that the young player will make mistakes as he adapts to the team.
