Ateneo beats St. Benilde for fifth place in Shakey's Super League

Ateneo secured fifth place in the Shakey's Super League Collegiate Pre-season Championship over the weekend, defeating NCAA champion St. Benilde with a dominant 26-24, 25-16, 21-25, 25-23 victory.

Seasoned spiker Lyann de Guzman led Ateneo with 20 points and played a crucial role in the closing moments of the fourth set, scoring the final two points to secure the win.

St. Benilde finished sixth, with Clydel Catarig leading the team with 14 points but falling short against Ateneo's strong performance.

UE secured seventh place by defeating UP in a closely contested match.

The championship series will begin on November 22 between National University and La Salle in a best-of-three format.
