Sara Duterte cancels Araw ng Dabaw festivities over nCoV threat

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte canceled the 83rd Araw ng Dabaw festivities scheduled for March due to the threat of the novel coronavirus.

The decision follows DOH advisories recommending against public gatherings to prevent virus spread.

Canceled events include Pasiugdang Pagsaulog, Reyna Dabawenya, Ginoong Davao, Sayaw Pinoy, Kalingawan sa Sta. Ana, Hudyaka, Mutya ng Dabaw, Pasidungog, Araw ng Empleyado, Kanta Bidabawenyo, Parada Dabawenyo, and the Datu Bago Awards.

The mayor assured that preparations will be implemented in next year's celebration and emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong immune system to avoid infection.
