Ancajas vs Casero in super bantamweight fight on Aug 2

Former world champion Jerwin Ancajas will face Ruben Dario Casero in an eight-round super bantamweight clash on August 2 (August 1 Manila time) at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.

Ancajas was originally scheduled to fight during the Manny Pacquiao-Mario Barrios bout but missed out due to last-minute issues with his opponent.

Despite this setback, Ancajas and his trainer Joven Jimenez supported fellow Filipino fighters Mark Magsayo and Eumir Marcial who won their matches.

Sean Gibbons of MP Promotions promised to arrange a fight for Ancajas as soon as possible, resulting in the upcoming match against Casero.

Ancajas, now 33 years old with a record of 36-4-2, expressed his readiness and eagerness to showcase his training progress under Manny Pacquiao's influence and is cautious about his opponent's aggressive style.

Inspired by Pacquiao, Ancajas aims to regain his prime form after being knocked out in 2024 and is excited to demonstrate his new skills. Casero, a Uruguayan fighter with a record of 13-4 and five knockouts, represents a significant challenge for Ancajas.
