Former mayor testifies on escape, yacht used

Former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo appeared before a Senate panel where she provided details about her escape from the Philippines in July.

Guo revealed that an individual initiated and facilitated her escape but did not disclose their identity for safety reasons, confirming during Monday's hearing that one of the vessels used was a yacht.

She admitted reluctance to leave the country initially and stated that she did not spend any money on transportation or bribing local officials, as senators sought more information about who aided her.

Guo expressed regret over her decision to flee and denied receiving assistance from any Filipino official or private individual in her escape.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has relieved Norman Tansingco from his post as Immigration chief following Guo's escape.
