Alas Pilipinas loses to Iran in AVC Women's Nations Cup

Alas Pilipinas lost a dramatic five-set match to Iran during the AVC Women's Nations Cup on Monday in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Despite leading Sets 1 and 3 with scores of 25-16 and 26-24 respectively, Alas Pilipinas struggled to maintain their lead and ultimately fell to Iran with a final score of 25-16, 21-25, 24-26, 23-25, and 13-15.

Fatemeh Khalili led the Iranian team with 21 points off 19 attacks and two blocks, while Angel Canino topscored for Alas Pilipinas with 20 points; Canino added that despite the loss, they learned valuable lessons from the game.

Eya Laure contributed 16 points and Dell Palomata added 10 as Alas Pilipinas dropped to a 2-1 record in Pool B.

With this loss, Iran remains undefeated at 3-0 while Kazakhstan also holds an unbeaten record of 3-0. Alas Pilipinas faces must-win games against New Zealand on Wednesday and Kazakhstan on Thursday to advance to the semifinals.
