Filipino actors criticize FAMAS Awards for Darren oversight

Aktor PH, a group of Filipino actors including Dingdong Dantes and Piolo Pascual, released a statement expressing disappointment over the handling of Eva Darren at the FAMAS Awards 2024.

The collective criticized the oversight during the ceremony on Sunday evening and emphasized that such events should celebrate more than just victories while expressing support for Darren.

Aktor PH expressed sadness over what they perceive as a management lapse in the program, which marred an otherwise celebratory occasion for the film industry.

The group stressed the importance of upholding respect and authenticity in Filipino film events moving forward, asserting their aspiration to revive the genuine essence of these gatherings.

AKTOR, another actors' league, offered its support to Darren following the incident.

Darren's son, Dr. Fernando de la Pena, had earlier expressed disappointment over his mother being replaced as a presenter without notice.

FAMAS has since apologized and intends to make amends for the oversight.
