DBM approves PHP 16.89B for AFP subsistence allowance increase

On Wednesday, March 19, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) approved PHP 16.89 billion in government funds to increase the subsistence allowance for Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel as per President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s Executive Order No. 84.

Under EO 84, signed on March 14, the daily subsistence allowance for AFP personnel will rise from PHP 150 to PHP 350, retroactive to January 1, 2025.

DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman stated that this adjustment has long been studied and was included in the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

The additional funds will be sourced from the personnel services appropriation of AFP agencies, including the Philippine Army, Air Force, and Navy, as well as trainees and probationary officers.

This increase aims to protect and promote the welfare of AFP personnel and recognize their sacrifices in defending the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Secretary Pangandaman noted that this is a significant improvement for military families and a step towards ensuring the welfare of soldiers and strengthening troop morale.
