Marcos to discuss national security, military modernization in SONA

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) anticipates that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will discuss efforts to bolster national security and enhance defense capabilities in his third State of the Nation Address on Monday.

AFP spokesperson Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla said they expect updates on ongoing initiatives, including progress made in the military modernization program, during the address.

Padilla noted that the President's support for the military's efforts is acknowledged by the AFP, which anticipates a focus on territorial defense operations to protect against both external and internal threats.

The shift towards territorial defense involves defending the country from potential invasions and addressing challenges inside the nation under the Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept.

This concept aims to safeguard the vast territories of the Philippines from all possible threats.
