Actor-director Ricky Davao dies at home in Taguig after battling late-stage lymphoma

Actor-director Ricky Davao passed away surrounded by loved ones at his home in Taguig City on May 1 after battling late-stage lymphoma since the last quarter of 2024.

Jackie Lou Blanco, Ricky's legal wife since 2011 despite their separation, shared that he wanted to spend quality time with his children and grandchildren during his final months.

Ricky expressed a desire for 'quality of life,' ensuring that his loved ones would visit him regularly as he slept more due to medication. In her eulogy at Ricky's wake, Jackie Lou thanked his ex-girlfriend Cheryl Singzon and current girlfriend Mayeth Malca Darocca for their support during his illness.

Jackie Lou emphasized the peace they found in co-parenting and her gratitude for their enduring love, which she hopes will continue to inspire their children. She also revealed that it was she, Ricky's ex-girlfriend, and his current girlfriend who were there for him during his last days.

In her final conversation with Ricky, Jackie Lou assured him she would take care of their children and apologized for any past hurts. Reflecting on Ricky's life, Jackie Lou described him as an animated, helpful person dedicated to his craft and remembered him as a good friend and father who always lent a hand.
