Abante supports US extradition of Quiboloy

Bienvenido Abante, chair of the House Committee on Human Rights, expressed support for the extradition of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy to the US, where Quiboloy faces charges related to sex trafficking and child abuse.

Abante emphasized that as a member of the international community, it is necessary for the Philippines to honor its extradition treaty with the US.

In 2021, a federal grand jury in California indicted Pastor Quiboloy on multiple charges, leading to an arrest warrant being issued and a recent request for his extradition from the US.

Abante questioned why the extradition process cannot proceed even if Quiboloy has pending cases in the Philippines, suggesting that due process can be expedited without compromising legal rights.

The congressman expressed confidence in both Philippine and American legal systems to ensure fair treatment of Quiboloy during the extradition proceedings.
