91% of Filipinos enter 2021 hopeful

A new Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey shows that 91% of Filipinos will enter 2021 with hope despite the ongoing pandemic, down from 96% in 2019.

Seven percent of respondents said they are entering the year with fear, up three percentage points from last year.

The November survey also found that only half of adult Filipinos expected a happy Christmas this year, while 15% expected it to be sad and 33% neither happy nor sad.

Among those expecting a sad Christmas, 83% still have hope for the new year, compared to more optimistic respondents who expected a happy holiday season.
