DoH reports 7,450 new cases, total reaches 1.26M

The Department of Health (DoH) reported 7,450 new coronavirus cases on Friday, bringing the total number of infections in the Philippines to over 1.26 million.

The death toll increased by 181 to 21,537, while recoveries rose by 2,382 to 1.17 million.

There were 60,794 active cases as of Friday, with 1.3% being critical and the majority (93.9%) experiencing mild symptoms.

The DoH also noted that five laboratories failed to submit data on June 2, and 119 recoveries were reclassified as deaths.

Health authorities have flagged a surge in infections outside the capital region, particularly in Mindanao and other parts of Luzon, with an average daily case count of 6,691 over the past week.
