6 OFWs detained in HK for visa violations, misrepresentation

Six Filipino overseas workers in Hong Kong have been detained by the HK Immigration Department for alleged visa violations and misrepresentation.

The detainees are accused of taking up unauthorized employment and establishing businesses in violation of their work permits.

They were also charged with falsely claiming to be dentists, which is considered a serious offense under Hong Kong's immigration laws.

The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong is providing assistance to the detained workers as the official investigation continues.

Filipinos visiting or working in Hong Kong must adhere strictly to visa regulations and employment conditions to avoid legal issues.

Foreign domestic helpers are permitted only to work for their contracted employer and should not engage in any other employment, including part-time jobs.
