PAGASA: 16 areas at 'danger level' heat index on Wed

PAGASA reported that 16 areas in the Philippines will experience 'danger level' heat index on Wednesday, April 9.

Dagupan City in Pangasinan and Iloilo City recorded a high of 44°C, while Sangley Point in Cavite, Virac in Catanduanes, and Butuan City reached a heat index of 43°C.

Other areas such as Echague in Isabela, Iba in Zambales, Cubi Pt. in Subic Bay, San Ildefonso in Bulacan, Camiling in Tarlac, Cuyo in Palawan, Roxas City in Capiz, Panglao International Airport in Bohol, and Dipolog in Zamboanga del Sur recorded a heat index of 42°C.

PAGASA categorizes areas with a heat index between 42°C and 51°C as 'danger level', where heat cramps, exhaustion, and stroke are possible risks.

To prevent heat-related illnesses, PAGASA advises the public to limit outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and wear fresh clothes.
