Cebu starts strategic testing for GCQ transition

Cebu City plans to start strategic coronavirus testing on May 4 to gather data for transitioning from enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to general community quarantine (GCQ).

The city will test 10 percent of households in 78 barangays over six days, excluding Labangon and Luz villages where previous tests were conducted.

Dr. Jaime Bernadas, DOH-Region 7 director, stated that the testing aims to identify cases at the community level and prevent virus transmission.

Approximately 46,895 individuals in Cebu City, Mandaue, and Lapu-Lapu will be tested using FDA-approved rapid test kits as part of a systematic approach.
