MRT3 suspends ops, DOTr eyes bus augmentation

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT3) suspended operations from July 7 to 11 due to an increasing number of its personnel testing positive for COVID-19.

As of Wednesday, a total of 202 MRT3 employees have tested positive, including 16 stationed at various stations and 181 at the depot.

Transportation officials are considering adding more buses to cater to commuters during this period.

President Rodrigo Duterte assured that operations will resume only when sufficient personnel test negative for COVID-19.

Of the 3,299 MRT personnel, 339 remain to be tested on Wednesday.
