PNP reports 99th COVID-19 fatality

As of Friday, August 20, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported its 99th COVID-19 fatality, raising the total number of deaths among PNP personnel to 99.

The latest victim is a 44-year-old lieutenant colonel from Cebu City who died on August 18 due to acute respiratory failure secondary to COVID-19.

Since then, recoveries have increased by 179 cases, bringing the total number of recovered PNP personnel to 31,178 out of a total of 33,034 cases.

The active case tally has also risen to 1,757 after reporting another 123 new cases on Friday.
