DOH: Health workers infected with COVID-19 now at 1,101

As of Saturday, April 25, the number of health care workers infected with COVID-19 has climbed to 1,101.

The DOH reported that 434 are physicians or doctors, 400 are nurses, 55 are nursing assistants, 32 are medical technologists, and 21 are radiologic technologists.

Twenty-six health workers have died from the illness, with 20 being doctors and six being nurses.

Malacañang expressed concern over the number of infected healthcare workers on Thursday, April 23, saying it might affect the country’s capability to treat patients.

The DOH has proposed hiring additional personnel for COVID-19 response, including 15,757 human resources for health and 2,000 deputized physicians.
