House Minority Bloc demands removal of Communications Undersecretary over 'terrorist-tagging' of lawmakers

House Minority Bloc members are demanding Communications Undersecretary Lorraine Marie Badoy’s removal following her 'terrorist-tagging' of Makabayan Bloc lawmakers.

In a manifesto signed by 21 minority legislators led by Bienvenido Abante Jr., the group claims that Badoy's actions violate basic Filipino core values and deliberately disrespect elected public officials, which is unacceptable.

The House deferred plenary debates on the PCOO’s proposed P1.59 billion budget for 2021 after Minority Bloc members demanded Badoy remove her social media posts attacking lawmakers and issue a public apology.

Abante challenged Badoy to take her accusations to court if they were true instead of subjecting the Makabayan lawmakers to a trial by publicity, pushing through with moving to defer the budget deliberations of the PCOO.

The majority bloc supported Abante's motion and, with no objections from other lawmakers, it was carried.
