Zubiri refutes ouster plot vs Sotto

Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri expressed satisfaction with Senate President Vicente Sotto III's leadership, refuting rumors of an ouster plot.

Senator Panfilo Lacson had revealed that Sotto was informed of a Senate resolution, allegedly circulated by the majority bloc, aiming to replace him as Senate President.

Zubiri clarified that his group, including Senators Joel Villanueva, Grace Poe, Sherwin Gatchalian, Sonny Angara, Nancy Binay, and Richard Gordon, supports Sotto's continued leadership.

Zubiri stated that he himself did not receive any resolution seeking a change in leadership and emphasized Sotto's valuable experience.

He assured the public that Sotto would retain his position as Senate President when the 18th Congress reconvenes for its third regular session.

Zubiri noted that while leadership changes are common in the House of Representatives nearing session openings or the SONA, the Senate leadership appears stable.
