VP Sara Duterte alleges Romualdez received kickbacks from illegal gambling, flood projects

Vice President Sara Duterte alleged that former House Speaker Martin Romualdez received kickbacks from illegal gambling operations and flood control projects.

Duterte claimed she received this information from a Romualdez staffer, who had also been informing her about attacks on the Vice President's previous confidential funds.

She stated that these kickbacks were delivered in suitcases, corroborating previous circulating talks.

Romualdez denied the allegations, calling them "pure fiction" and a "figment of their imagination."

He stated that he never accepted anything from illegal gambling and that the accusations are unproven hearsay.

Romualdez also addressed allegations related to the Okada Manila hotel chain issue, clarifying that he was not involved in the dispute between the two businesses and that the issue was being "resurrected to destroy my reputation."
