Escudero: Romualdez used FLR funds, Marcos Jr.'s name to push impeachment complaint

Senator Francis Escudero accused former House Speaker Martin Romualdez of misusing "for later release" (FLR) funds and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s name to advance an impeachment complaint against the Vice President.

Escudero confirmed Representative Toby Tiangco's allegation that Romualdez used the impeachment complaint as leverage for the release of FLR funds.

Romualdez allegedly promised to release these funds before the May 2025 elections, despite knowing the impeachment complaint against the Vice President would not be addressed by the Senate until June.

According to Escudero, Romualdez pressured individuals to sign the complaint by threatening the withholding of their FLR funds.

However, Escudero stated that President Marcos Jr. denied any such agreement, rejecting the use of his name in the scheme and leaving the questionable funds unreleased.
