Vico Sotto denies being eyed as ICI special adviser

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto denied reports that he was being considered to replace Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong as special adviser to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).

Sotto stated he was misquoted in an ambush interview and that his comment referred to a prior statement from the Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG).

The M4GG, a coalition co-convened by Sotto and Magalong, also issued a clarification denying claims that Sotto was offered the ICI position.

Magalong resigned from the ICI last Friday after Malacañang announced a review of potential conflicts of interest between his roles.

In his resignation letter, Magalong cited the Palace's pronouncements as undermining his role and casting doubt on the ICI's independence.
