Velasco says Cayetano broke term-sharing deal

Speaker Lord Allan Velasco stated that the original term-sharing agreement with former Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano regarding House committee chairmanships was followed.

Velasco asserted that Cayetano himself had already broken the term-sharing deal four times by denying him the speakership.

According to Velasco, the original agreement stipulated that only the Speakers and the chair of accounts would change.

He highlighted that Majority Leader Martin Romualdez, who was also part of the term-sharing agreement, retained his position.

Cayetano had previously urged Velasco to honor their agreement and refrain from replacing House leadership positions.

Cayetano's remarks came after two committee chairpersons were replaced, which he believed violated their term-sharing pact.
