UAAP: UST completes sweep of Season 87 table tennis
The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Lady Paddlers secured an outright Finals berth in the UAAP Season 87 Women's Table Tennis tournament with a 3-2 victory over Far Eastern University (FEU).
UST also achieved an outright Finals berth in the men's division, completing a flawless 12-0 record in the elimination round.
The men's team, aiming for their fifth consecutive championship, extended their winning streak to 42 matches.
On Tuesday, November 26, the UST Tiger Paddlers defeated Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles, 3-1, to win their fifth consecutive crown and 31st overall championship.
Simultaneously, the Lady Paddlers dominated the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, 3-0, to capture their 14th title and first since Season 82 in 2019.
UST also completed season sweeps in the high school divisions, winning against Adamson University in the boys' division and De La Salle Zobel in the girls' division.
This marks only the second event sweep in UAAP table tennis since Season 78 (2015).
Season 85 MVP Alvin Sevilla sealed UST's 44th consecutive win with a victory over Ateneo captain Mahendra Cabrido.
