FEU, UP crowned UAAP athletics champions

Far Eastern University (FEU) and University of the Philippines (UP) reclaimed the women's and men's titles, respectively, in the UAAP Season 87 athletics tournament held at New Clark City Athletics Stadium.

The FEU Lady Tamaraws secured their league-leading 25th women's title with 397.5 points, marking their first championship since Season 81 and their first title of the season.

The UP Fighting Maroons defended their men's title with 290 points, just four points ahead of FEU, to capture their 21st championship and second title of the season.

This victory adds to UP's collection this season, following their women's badminton championship.

University of Santo Tomas (UST) finished in second place with 291 points in the men's division, winning gold medals in shot put through Jamela de Asis and 100-meter hurdles through Lyka Miravalles.

FEU head coach Ross Hamero expressed satisfaction with the win, stating it was satisfying due to challenges from recruitment and player injuries, and that she didn't expect their lead to reach 100 points.
