NU beats UP to set finals duel vs. UST in UAAP men’s tennis
The National University (NU) Bulldogs have advanced to the UAAP Season 87 men's tennis finals after defeating the University of the Philippines (UP) Maroons, 3-1.
They will face the defending champions, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers, in a best-of-three championship series.
UST secured their spot in the finals by defeating the University of the East (UE) Warriors, 4-1.
The men's finals between NU and UST will begin on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Felicisimo Ampon Tennis Center.
The women's finals will also feature NU against UST, with NU as the defending champion, and is scheduled to start earlier on Wednesday.
NU coach Ronard Joven emphasized the team's determination after a previous loss in the Final Four, encouraging them to play their best in the do-or-die match against UP.
NU previously defeated UST, 3-2, in the first round of the preliminaries, while UST won their second-round encounter, 4-1.
