UST Growling Tigers aim for UAAP Season 88 championship in 'championship or bust' season

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers are aiming for the UAAP Season 88 championship, with skipper Nic Cabañero stating it's "championship or bust" for the team.

The Growling Tigers will open their campaign against reigning champion University of the Philippines (UP) on Sunday at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.

Cabañero expressed the team's determination to win their first title in 19 years, especially as UST hosts the new season.

He added that winning the championship will create a lasting legacy and make their hosting truly special.

While UP, Ateneo de Manila University, and De La Salle University remain strong, UST has a roster capable of pulling off a surprise.

The team's strength is bolstered by the addition of "game changer" Collins Akowe, a Nigerian student-athlete who will man the shaded lanes.

Kyle Paranada is expected to help Cabañero carry the scoring load.
