UST-Gameville sweeps ProVolley Academy to keep bronze medal hopes alive

The University of Santo Tomas-Gameville (UST-Gameville) secured their first victory in the Spikers' Turf Invitational Conference semifinal round by sweeping ProVolley Academy of Australia with scores of 25-16, 25-21, and 25-16.

This win keeps UST-Gameville's hopes for a bronze medal alive, ending their three-game losing streak and improving their record to 1-3.

GBoy Dela Vega was the top scorer for UST-Gameville with 17 points, all from attacks, and also contributed 17 excellent receptions and 11 excellent digs.

John Vyrbin Catinsag and Kenned Salvador also contributed nine and eight points, respectively, while setter Joshua Avila recorded 19 excellent sets.

UST-Gameville's assistant coach Benjamin Mape stated that the team's enjoyment during the game was crucial for their performance and development for the UAAP.

The Golden Spikers leaned on their attacking prowess, firing 52 attacks compared to the Australian squad's 27.

A victory by Criss Cross against Savouge would officially eliminate UST-Gameville from bronze medal contention.
