UP Vanguard, ROTC cadets launch COVID-19 relief efforts

The UP Vanguard Inc. and ROTC cadets have launched fundraising and mobilization efforts for COVID-19 response, assisting students stranded in dormitories and supporting frontline workers.

The initiative, coordinated through the university's Department of Military Science & Tactics (DMST), aims to provide essential aid like food and hygiene kits to students in UP Diliman, Los Baños, and Baguio.

ROTC cadets are actively involved in implementing feeding programs and distributing hygiene kits.

Additionally, the UP Vanguard has mobilized funds to acquire 500 hazmat suits, 800 isolation suits, and masks for frontliners.

They have established contact persons in hospitals, including the Philippine Heart Center and Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center, and in provinces to facilitate PPE distribution.

This effort aligns with President Rodrigo Duterte's call for ROTC trainees to assist in distributing relief packs to families affected by the enhanced community quarantine.
