UP Diliman monitors Covid-19 PUI as DOH confirms 9 new cases

A member of the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman community is currently being monitored for symptoms of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

The individual, who exhibited a high fever, was initially screened at the University Health Service's holding area and subsequently transferred to a hospital for testing.

UP Diliman Chancellor Fidel Nemenzo assured the public that all protocols were followed in handling the person under investigation (PUI), including isolation and disinfection of the area.

A Covid-19 task force has been established by UP Diliman to ensure the effective implementation of measures against the virus.

New policies have been put in place for students, faculty, employees, and residents, including a travel ban, cancellation of events, and promotion of social distancing and hygiene.

Online classes have been implemented, and classes and work were suspended from March 10 to 14.

The university is urging its community to take precautionary measures to protect collective health and well-being.

The Department of Health confirmed nine new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the total to 33 in the Philippines.
